Who we are
PSS Polymer Standards Service GmbH was founded in 1985 as a spin-off company of the University of Mainz by two polymer chemists. In the following years, the company grew steadily and developed new business areas. The PSS range of products and services today encompasses all products for the successful characterization of macromolecules, from a single molecular weight standard to company-wide software and hardware solutions.
PSS GmbH is a small and medium-sized enterprise in private ownership. The subsidiary company, PSS-USA, opened its office in Houston, Texas in 1994; moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1995. From 2003 until 2011, PSS USA operated from Warwick, Rhode Island. Since November 2011, the USA headquarters has moved to its largest facility in Amherst, Massachusetts. Technical offices were opened in The Netherlands and Northeast Germany. PSS is working with distribution partners worldwide.

Our highly trained staff is experienced, creative and trained in problem solving. Our laboratory equipment is based on the latest technology and allows us to offer modern solutions. Certified DIN ISO EN 9001
PSS is certified (DIN ISO EN 9001) to produce high quality Reference Polymers, GPC Columns and Software for the characterization of polymers by their molecular weight and their structural characteristics.
PSS employs the latest findings in polymer science for the synthesis and characterization of polymers, block copolymers and biopolymers.
PSS operates manufacturing facility equipped with a complete state-of-the-art characterization laboratory at the headquarters in Mainz (Germany), fully supporting customers working under stringent requirements i.e., GLP, DIN, ISO certifications.
