Dextran 40, 60, 70

SEC is the standard technique in pharmaceutical testing of Dextran 40, 60 and 70. Specific calibration is required. A dedicated e-workflow has been added to PSS WinGPC MCDS to allow for characterization in agreement with EP and USP.

Polysaccharrides

Polysaccharides are very important in nature, occurring in food (starches) and plants (cellulose). Some polysaccharides are also produced commercially e.g. Dextrans. Aqueous GPC/SEC can be used to measure their molar mass distributions.

Starches

The molecular characterization of native and milled starches from different natural sources shows that GPC/SEC-MALLS can be used efficiently to study the degradation.

Hyaluronic Acid

Due to the lack of high molar mass calibration standards the use of light scattering detection is recommended for the analysis if hyaluronic acid.

Hydroxyethyl Starch

Hydroxyethyl starches are described by their average molecular weight. The specifications given in the Pharmaeuropa can be measured using GPC/SEC with RI and light scattering detection.

Heparin EP and USP

Pharmaeuropa and USP require GPC/SEC to characterize low molar mass heparins. PSS WinGPC offers all calibration options for heparins and a specific heparin module.

Gelatin

Gelatins have a broad molar mass distribution and multiple peaks can be present in the sample. A very detailed analysis can be done using the WinGPC multi area data evaluation option.

Polysulfon Membranes

Polysulfone allows easy manufacturing of membranes which characteristics can be determined using Inverse GPC/SEC.

Carrageenan

GPC/SEC-Viscometry allows to measure true molar masses for carrageenan samples. It enables detection of subtle differences even for samples with very similar molar mass distributions.
