GPC/SEC Stationary Phases for Organic Solvents - click on arrow to enlarge

PSS offers a wide range of stationary phase polarities to match the sample and mobile phase polarities based on the requirements of the Magic Triangle. All materials are compatible with a wide range of eluents, but show optimum performance in a specific mobile phase polarity range.

  • Ideal mobile phases for a given stationary phase are in the optimum polarity range of this stationary phase.
  • Suitable mobile phases for a given stationary phase will allow for successful separations, but other PSS column materials are more appropriate to maintain a balanced sytem.

For GPC/SEC separations in nonpolar and medium polar organic solvents.
For Poly(styrenes), Poly(methacrylates), PVC, Poly(carbonates), Resins and many others


Material:

  • Styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer network
  • Particle Sizes: 3, 5, 10, 20 µm
  • Molar Mass Range: 100 - 30 000 000 Da
  • available as analytical, semi-micro, HighSpeed and preparative columns

Mobile Phases:

  • Ideal for THF, Toluene, Chloroform (TCM), Dichloromethan (DCM), Heptan, Ethylacetate (all with/without additives)
  • Suitable for DMAc, DMF, NMP, DMSO, TFE, HFIP (recommmended alternatives: GRAM/PolarSil, PFG) and others

Maximum Temperature:

  • 100°C (recommended Material for HT: POLEFIN)

For GPC/SEC separations in medium polar organic solvents.
For Polyurethanes, Polyimides, Starches, Celluloses, some Polyamides, other polar polymers.


Material:

  • Polyester copolymer network
  • Particle Size: 10 µm
  • Molar Mass Range: 100 - 50 000 000 Da
  • available as analytical, HighSpeed and preparative columns

Mobile Phases:

  • Ideal for DMAc, DMF, NMP, DMSO (all with/without additives)
  • Suitable for THF, Toluene, Chloroform (recommmended alternative: SDV),
    Water (recommeded alternative: SUPREMA)

Maximum Temperature:

  • 90°C

For GPC/SEC separations in medium polar organic solvents.
For low to medium molar mass Resins and Lignins. 


Material:

  • Polar modified silica
  • Particle Sizes: 3, 5 µm
  • Molar Mass Range: 100 - 1 000 000 Da
  • available as analytical and semi-micro columns

Mobile Phases:

  • Ideal for DMAc, DMF, NMP, DMSO (all with/without additives)
  • Suitable for THF, Toluene, Chloroform (recommmended alternative: SDV),
    Water < pH 8 (recommeded alternative: SUPREMA)

Maximum Temperature:

  • 70°C

For GPC/SEC separations in fluorinated organic solvents.
For Polyesters, Nylons, Poly(lactides), POM, and others.


Material:

  • Polar modified silica
  • Particle Sizes: 5, 7 µm
  • Molar Mass Range: 100 - 3 000 000 Da
  • available as analytical, semi-micro, HighSpeed and preparative columns

Mobile Phases:

  • Ideal for HFIP, TFE (all with/without additives)
  • Suitable for THF, Toluene, Chloroform (recommmended alternative: SDV),
    DMAc, DMF, DMSO (recommeded alternative: GRAM)

Maximum Temperature:

  • 70°C

For High temperature GPC/SEC of polyolefins.
For Poly(ethylene), Poly(propylene) and others.
