Intrinsic viscosity, universal calibration and branching analysis with Viscosity Detection
Viscosity is an important principal parameter when looking at macroscopic properties of a material. Viscometry detectors in LC offer the advantage of directly measuring intrinsic viscosities, Mark-Houwink coefficients and (based on Benoit's universal calibrtion approach) molar masses independent on the nature of the calibration standards.
In addition their detector signal shows a unique dependence on the viscosity of the sample thus allowing reliable detection when other detectors fail. Viscometers provide useful insights for systems with a low dn/dc or for fluorescent samples.
PSS offers two different viscometer models optimized for specific applications and different lab environments.
PSS detectors can be connected to any existing LC hardware and are operated using WinGPC UniChrom MCDS thus allowing for compliant GPC/SEC viscometry in a homogeneous software environment.
